3Going a little backwards
By Tallone7
First of all, this is a decent Fridge. What I do like is the ice and water dispenser... visually, it is very pretty to look at. It is harder for my 12 year old to use and she thinks you have to push the rubber inserts by hand. For a child, it is hard to push the glass in to dispense. Harder for an adult as well. So like an Italian Super Model, pretty to look at... Hard to live with. The overflow tray at the bottom of the ice and water dispenser is cheap and flimsy. I had essentially the same model, a 6 year old Kitchenaid side by side counter depth. But after replacing the ice maker for the third time, being offered NO help from kitchenaid, and having numerous computer boards replaced, I finally gave up and ordered a new one. Why the [same] model you may ask? If I was so dissapointed with my last one? Well, I built my own cabinets to accomodate my old one and this is a very unique size. I also love the appearance of the unit. It has a very clean, high-end look both inside and out. That said, what I feel they have gone backwards on are a number of things. The size. My last one was 24.9 Cubic ft, the largest 36 inch counter depth available at the time is now only 23.9. So I lose a ft. Thats a big deal if you knew my wife. Secondly is the loss of a freezer drawer. The old one had 3, this one has two. And the shelves are very far apart. Great for great big tall boxes, but I cant think of a great big tall box to put in the freezer so this leaves lots of wasted space. The Ice maker is tiny, the drawer is tiny, yet the ice maker takes up twice as much space as the old one. Thats weird. Lastly, on the refridgerator door, there are two less container shelves. The old one had a unit at the bottom for 12oz. sodas or what ever, poof, not there, and again, just wasted space. Also one less side door bin as well. Having now only 4, is great if I store 64oz tall Evian bottles in all 4 shelves, but I dont, I store, hmmm, Ketchup, mustard, relish, salad dressing... You get the point, each item is about 4-10 inches high. I would like one 16" spaced side bin, but give me one more and a soda can holder. Again, massively wasted space on an already small enough fridge. What's that about? Also, it seems the smaller a fridge gets, the more expensive it gets. And these are not cheap. I paid 2500.00 fo the unit and am regretting just not getting bent over for another $350.00+ to get my old one repaired again...and again... and again... My God, When I grew up, you couldn't kill a refridgerator, now you are lucky to get 7-8 years out of one.Okay, enough about the negative. Well, heck, not just yet... My old one had these really cool lights on the water dispenser. Whe you dimmed the room, the lights would dim as to not stick out like a sore thumb. When you lit up the room or in the daytime, they would go full bright. Unless you own a vintage 2003-2007 Kitchenaid, you may not know of which I speak, but it was cool. This new one has this big fancy computer-geek panel on it. Looks cool enough, but only gives me on, off and dim for settings of the water dispenser back-lighting. May sound fine, but its a step backward. I liked it when it was on a fully automatic sensor.Okay, I do like the way the door opens, that is an improvement, I like the shelving that it is now surrounded/trimmed in stainless. My old plastic surrounds were beginning to stress crack. Some people talk about how they like the new l.e.d. lighting inside. I like the positioning and the extra light points, but hate l.e.d.'s with a passion. They look fake. Its why I tried and then threw away my outdoor l.e.d. Christmas lights. Looked like they were for a different holiday, not chrismtas. Too fake looking. Un-natural. Also, there was a weird buzzing coming out of the bottom of the unit yesterday, It went away today, but I must say... I am nervous about this purchase. Feel like I threw my money away and it is just too hard to come by right now. Threw it away as I had a decent almost working unit. If you dont have a Fridge at all or if yours is completely gone, I would think these things through when you decide. Sorry for the super long review. But again it is more of change for the sake of change, and not well thought out as to what might have been better or more useful. I swear these people that design refridgerators these days must be 23 yer old design students that have never really used or cared about a refrigerator in their life.

4Very Nice refrigerator w/great features
By Razzle Dazzle
Only had this for 2 weeks but am finding I really like it. This is my second Kitchenaid refrigerator and although they're not as quiet as some on the market, the first one is still going strong after 20 years. This replaced a Samsung side x side that I really liked. It was almost silent and the dual evaporators were really what sold me on the Samsung. Now Kitchenaid has the same technology. The icemaker on the door was a surprise although it only makes something like 6 cubes at a time, the bin is never empty and I use it daily. There is a MAX ICE setting and only time will tell if I will need to use it for the Summer months, but if it continues the way it is now, I won't need to. The lighting in this refrigerator is really great. It starts out dim and then gets bright. There are about 6 led lights on the refrigerator side and nothing is in a shadow. The freezer side is very well lit and it has plenty of room. I lost 3+ cu. Ft. buying this refrigerator, but I have yet to find that I miss the space. The Samsung had the icemaker at the top of the freezer compartment that really took a lot of space. I had purchased 3 containers for the Samsung that I kept my meat in. I was so surprised when these actually fit inside with moving the lower drawers and re arranging the shelves. I had to remove the door bins, they were very shallow to begin with, and so the 14" depth containers fit just beautifully. I love all of the clear drawers both sides. Nothing hides from you. I would recommend this model to anyone. It is KITCHENAID KSC24C8EYP. A nice counter depth cabinet. The controls are pretty straight forward and instead of guessing how cold the refrigerator and freezer are set at, you have your choice by setting degrees rather than just numbers. The dispenser in the front is nice too. You can have it light automatically when using the ice or water dispenser or you can set it to stay on bright or dim. The dual dispensers have always been a must for me. I would not even consider a model that I had to switch from ice to water with a button. Senseless in my opinion. By all means, check this one out if looking for a new side by side. You'll like the features.

2Rerigerator OK, but Kitchenaid service is terrible
By Lisa S Van Gilst
We purchased this product as part of a kitchen renovation. As luck would have it, the refrigerator was delivered before it could be installed. The contractor set up the fridge but said that he needed 3 washers to get the doors to align. Hearing this, we contatcted Kitchenaid immediately and they sent a certified person out immediately under the warrantee to aligne the doors. This is where it starts going down hill. The warranteed service man came out, looked at the contractors installation and said, thats a creative solution, I would leave it alone. He assured us everything is fine and the contractors installation would not cause issues with the operation of the refrigerator. Within a month the doors were rubbing together and terribly mis-aligned. We called Kitchenaid once again and they said, that simple alignmnets were outside the warrantee. We explained that they already send a warranteed servie person out alreay and this is regarding the very same issue. After some back and forth they said OK, they would send someone out under warrantee the next day. At the end of the next day when nobody showed up, we called Kitchenaid again, only to hear that it would not be covered under the warrantee but they would be happy to send a certified service rep to the house (same "creative solition, leave it alone) guy, but it would be at our expense. We told them to forget it we can find our own certified rep. I feel that we did all that we could do in notifying kitchenaid immediately, and since their service rep reviewed our concerns under warrantee and the original concern was the issue, it should still be under warantee. I don't want to go through the hassle again and will vote with my pocketbook. I will not buy Kitchenaid again and will share my opinion with anyone who is even half interested. The refrigerator itself is OK. The ice despenser works well but there us a odd taste to the water. I do not get the same odd taste from the tap. I have replaced the filter several times and the odd taste persists. I have just decided to get my water from the tap. The shelves of the refridgerator rather flimsy but I think everything is these days. Was a bit disappointed that the side panels are not SS at this price (nor viewable on the in store display we looked at),but that doesn't affect the operation.
