Don't waste your money

Bought an Electrolux EI23BC36IS fridge as part of a kitchen remodel in the summer of 2011. Really liked the style and the rock solid construction (esp. the drawer glides). Also purchased an extended warranty, and am VERY thankful that I did. After about a month the ice maker started working intermittently - had to turn it on and off to get it working again - and noticed water puddling in the dispenser catch basin. Turns out the water was due to ice melting in the ice maker. This was the first of three service calls and repairs to the ice maker, with each service tech saying that the problem was a design flaw and a very common complaint with this model. After 14 mos. the control panel LED lights started burning out. Another service call and we got a new control panel. (If we hadn't had the extended warranty we would have been out $1200!) One month later the ice maker started leaking again, but by this time the warranty company had enough and replaced the fridge with a later model (EI23BC5KS). The jury is still out on the new fridge (we've only had it a week) but it's not looking good: a very high pitch whine - enough to cause headaches - that appears to be coming from the evaporator fan. We had a service tech out for that complaint, which he dismissed as "normal operating noise." My fear is that this new fridge may turn out to be yet another Electrolux headache (in more ways than one.)I would have given this fridge 1 star, except I figure if you're looking for a fridge and don't need an ice maker, it may work for you. But buy at your own risk.

Beautiful but Troublesome

We purchased this refrigerator less than 2 years ago. We are very happy with the design, lighting and temp control. However we are very unhappy with the noise it makes. Several times a day we get a knocking sound from the freezer and Electrolux refuses to even discuss with us on the phone as it is out of warranty. The noise is intermittent but annoying. Also when it makes ice, the bin overfills so when you open the freezer drawer, the ice maker arm knocks ice into the back of the compartment. This will often prevent the freezer from closing and you have to get on your knees to reach back and clear the ice from the bottom of the compartment.Save yourself the agony and buy something other than an Electrolux appliance, I know I will never buy another.
