Badly designed and built product which can't survive 5 years without breaking.

This fridge came with the house we just moved into. Despite being just 5 year's old, it is already broken (but not crippled) in many areas. It is also poorly designed.Design issues:1) The doors are not designed to self swing closed. They are designed to self swing to about 20-30 degrees from closing and stop. Why would anyone want this!?!?! It prevents easy closing and requires force to close. And at 20-30 degrees open, it's not open enough for you to grab anything out of the fridge.2) The shelves are feeble and not balanced. They are advertised as slide-able. They slide about 2 inches. Not very helpful. But the design is so stupid that when you slide them, the shelves tip over as well. This means you don't want to slide the shelves because if you do, your food will just slide off the shelf as it tips. The shelves are also very weak and will snap out of their runners very easily, causing all your food to fall out of the freezer next time you open the door.3) Freezer depth is very lacking. Our frozen pizza boxes get pinched when we try to put it in.4) Water dispenser shoots a JET of water. For anything shorter than a beer glass, the water stream will be so powerful, the water will hit the bottom of the glass and ricochet out of the glass and all over you, the fridge, the floor, everything.Quality issues:1) It makes a high pitched whine whenever it's running. Oh and the whining is quite loud and can be heard over the TV. Basically badly designed electrics causing really bad coil whine.2) The ice chute door is broken and no longer self closes. So we now have to manually close it by sticking our fingers up inside the ice dispenser every time it's used.3) The feet squeak whenever the doors are opened or closed. We have leveled several times and have applied lubricants to the feet with no lasting improvement. The symptoms usually return after a week.In summary, avoid this product. We will be replacing it as soon as our house upgrade budget allows. We will not be going with GE either when we do replace. The house we bought also came with a dishwasher, a flat top stove, microwave, and oven, all from GE. The dishwasher does not vent steam anymore due to a broken solenoid and so it does a constant scream (Can be heard throughout the house) after every load is done. The stove top is so easily scratched, even under normal use, that our stove looks 10 years old, not the actual 5. Thankfully, the oven and the microwave are still working well. But hitting 2 out of 5 is not good.

Not only does GE make the most worthless piece of cr@p appliances, they also have the all-time worst customer service.Have gone through two of these refrigerators. The first one shook and squeaked like crazy every time we opened its door. The repair tech's solution was to "level" the fridge. They "leveled" the fridge over 10 times in 18 months. The first fridge also frequently made a very loud, random clicking noise. The noise could be heard over the TV, movies, etc... It was extraordinarily disturbing, especially when the family is trying to have a quiet dinner or even watch a movie in the living room. After going through hell (about 20-30 hours on the phone and over a dozen useless, failed service calls) GE finally replaced the fridge (only because the developer of our new house forced the local sales rep to replace it; GE customer service basically told us to F-off). And the new fridge makes an even louder clicking sound! WTF?!Avoid ALL GE products like the plague. They are a worthless company that doesn't give a rat's a55 about customer service and cares even less about taking thousands of your hard-earned dollars in exchange for a useless product that is designed to fail miserably.
